Related Product Information for
anti-AICDA antibody
Introduction: AICDA is an RNA-editing deaminase which belongs to the cytidine deaminase family. AICDA is involved in somatic hypermutation, gene conversion, and class-switch recombination of immunoglobulin genes. Defects in the AICDA gene are the cause of autosomal recessive hyper-IgM immunodeficiency syndrome type 2 (HIGM2).
Product Categories/Family for anti-AICDA antibody
MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES, ANTI-HUMAN ENZYMES; Monoclonal Antibodies; Anti Human Enzyme
Applications Tested/Suitable for anti-AICDA antibody
ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes for anti-AICDA antibody
AICDA antibody has been tested by ELISA and Western blot analysis to assure specificity and reactivity. Since application varies, however, each investigation should be titrated by the reagent to obtain optimal results. Recommended dilution range for Western blot analysis is 1:500 ~ 1,000. Recommended starting dilution is 1:500.

NCBI Summary for AICDA
This gene encodes a RNA-editing deaminase that is a member of the cytidine deaminase family. The protein is involved in somatic hypermutation, gene conversion, and class-switch recombination of immunoglobulin genes. Defects in this gene are the cause of autosomal recessive hyper-IgM immunodeficiency syndrome type 2 (HIGM2). [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]
UniProt Comments for AICDA
AID: Single-stranded DNA-specific cytidine deaminase. Involved in somatic hypermutation, gene conversion, and class- switch recombination in B-lymphocytes. Required for several crucial steps of B-cell terminal differentiation necessary for efficient antibody responses. May also play a role in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression by participating in DNA demethylation. Strongly expressed in lymph nodes and tonsils. Belongs to the cytidine and deoxycytidylate deaminase family.
Protein type: Hydrolase; EC 3.5.4.38
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12p13
Cellular Component: cytoplasm; exosome (RNase complex); nucleus
Molecular Function: protein binding; zinc ion binding; ubiquitin protein ligase binding; cytidine deaminase activity
Biological Process: somatic diversification of immunoglobulins; B cell differentiation; somatic hypermutation of immunoglobulin genes; isotype switching; cytidine deamination; mRNA processing
Disease: Immunodeficiency With Hyper-igm, Type 2
Research Articles on AICDA
1. AID activity and its relationship to chromosome folding and the B cell regulome was studied; find that AID-mediated lesions occur predominantly within B cell super-enhancers and regulatory clusters; further show that the structural and transcriptional features of these domains help explain AID tumorigenic activity in the B cell compartment of mice and humans.
