Related Product Information for
anti-Orm1 antibody
Alpha 1 acid glycoprotein (alpha 1-AGP), also known as orosomucoid (ORM1), is a 40kD major acute phase reactant secreted into the plasma by the liver, believed to act as an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory agent. An increase in plasma alpha 1-AGP levels occurs during tissue injury, inflammation, infection, surgery, acute myocardial infarction, trauma and pregnancy. Regulators of alpha 1-AGP expression include IL-1beta, IL-6, glucocorticoids, TNF-alpha and retinoic acids, and alpha 1-AGP can bind to drugs from endogenous and exogenous origin.

an acute phase reactant protein; may have a role in the acute inflammation response [RGD]
UniProt Comments for Orm1
ORM1: Functions as transport protein in the blood stream. Binds various ligands in the interior of its beta-barrel domain. Also binds synthetic drugs and influences their distribution and availability in the body. Appears to function in modulating the activity of the immune system during the acute-phase reaction. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Lipocalin family.
Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide
Cellular Component: extracellular space
Molecular Function: drug binding
Biological Process: response to drug; response to vitamin E; organ regeneration; regulation of immune system process; transport; acute-phase response; response to lipopolysaccharide; response to organic cyclic substance; chronic inflammatory response to antigenic stimulus; acute inflammatory response to antigenic stimulus
