Other Notes
Small volumes of AVD protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Related Product Information for
AVD protein
Avidin is a glycosylated polypeptide chain having a molecular mass of 68kD and containg 4 subunits each with a for biotin. Avidin is purified by affinity chromatographic techniques. The purification procedure ensures minimal contamination by other proteins or DNA. The resulting high activity and purity of the product gives very low non-specific binding (NSB).

Function: The
biological function of avidin is not known. Forms a strong non-covalent specific complex with biotin (one molecule of biotin per subunit of avidin).
Subunit structure: Homotetramer.
Subcellular location: Secreted.
Tissue specificity: Synthesized in hen oviduct and concentrated in egg white (where it represent 0.05% of the total protein).
Post-translational modification: N-linked glycan at Asn-41 consists of GlcNAc(beta1-2)Man(alpha1-3)[GlcNAc(beta1-4)][Man(alpha1-?)Man(alpha1-6)] Man(beta1-4)GlcNAc(beta1-4)GlcNAc.
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the avidin/streptavidin family.Contains 1 avidin-like domain.
