3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for Q9H5V8
Specificity
This item specifically recognises an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of isoform 1 of human CD318, otherwise known as CDCP1 (CUB domain-containing protein 1), a novel type I transmembrane protein expressed on the surface of haematopoietic stem cell subsets, epithelial cells and breast carcinoma, and up-regulated in metastatic lung and colorectal tumours.
Studies have shown the expression of CD318 on CD34+CD133+ leukaemic blasts from patients with AML (acute myeloid leukaemia) and CML (chronic myeloid leukaemia), suggesting a role for CD318 as a novel leukaemic diagnostic marker.

Antiserum Preparation
Antiserum to human CD318 (CT) was raised by repeated immunisation of goats with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.
Other Notes
Small volumes of anti-CD318 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for CD318
This gene encodes a transmembrane protein which contains three extracellular CUB domains and acts as a substrate for Src family kinases. The protein plays a role in the tyrosine phosphorylation-dependent regulation of cellular events that are involved in tumor invasion and metastasis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants of this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]
UniProt Comments for CD318
CDCP1: a transmembrane protein containing three extracellular CUB domains involved in cell adhesion and cell matrix association. May play a role in the regulation of anchorage versus migration or proliferation versus differentiation depending upon its phosphorylation status. Interacts with N- and P-cadherin, syndecans 1 and 4, the serine protease ST14, SRC and PKCG. Highly expressed in mitotic cells with low expression during interphase. Detected at highest levels in skeletal muscle and colon with lower levels in kidney, small intestine, placenta and lung. Up-regulated in a number of human tumor cell lines, as well as in colorectal cancer, breast carcinoma and lung cancer. Its expression level is correlated with the metastatic ability of carcinoma cells. May be a novel marker for leukemia diagnosis and for immature hematopoietic stem cell subsets. Belongs to the tetraspanin web involved in tumor progression and metastasis. Also expressed in cells with phenotypes reminiscent of mesenchymal stem cells and neural stem cells. Three alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. Isoform 1 is a single-pass membrane protein that may also be shed, giving rise to a soluble peptide. Isoform 3 is secreted.
Protein type: Cell surface; Membrane protein, integral
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p21.31
