The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing DPYD. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS743979 kit is based on DPYD antibody-DPYD antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect DPYD antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, DPYD. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. The protein encoded by this gene is a pyrimidine catabolic enzyme and the initial and rate-limiting factor in the pathway of uracil and thymidine catabolism. Mutations in this gene result in dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase deficiency, an error in pyrimidine metabolism associated with thymine-uraciluria and an increased risk of toxicity in cancer patients receiving 5-fluorouracil chemotherapy. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2009]
