The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.

NCBI Summary for ALDH3B1
This gene encodes a member of the aldehyde dehydrogenase protein family. Aldehyde dehydrogenases are a family of isozymes that may play a major role in the detoxification of aldehydes generated by alcohol metabolism and lipid peroxidation. The encoded protein is able to oxidize long-chain fatty aldehydes in vitro, and may play a role in protection from oxidative stress. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. UniProt Comments for ALDH3B1
ALDH3B1: Oxidizes medium and long chain saturated and unsaturated aldehydes. Metabolizes also benzaldehyde. Low activity towards acetaldehyde and 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetaldehyde. May not metabolize short chain aldehydes. May use both NADP(+) and NAD(+) as cofactors. May have a protective role against the cytotoxicity induced by lipid peroxidation. Belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Oxidoreductase; Amino Acid Metabolism - phenylalanine; Xenobiotic Metabolism - drug metabolism - cytochrome P450; Amino Acid Metabolism - histidine; Xenobiotic Metabolism - metabolism by cytochrome P450; Amino Acid Metabolism - tyrosine; EC 1.2.1.5; Carbohydrate Metabolism - glycolysis and gluconeogenesis
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q13
Cellular Component: cytoplasm; plasma membrane; cytosol; vesicle
Molecular Function: aldehyde dehydrogenase [NAD(P)+] activity; 3-chloroallyl aldehyde dehydrogenase activity
Biological Process: aldehyde catabolic process; ethanol catabolic process; alcohol metabolic process; lipid metabolic process
Research Articles on ALDH3B1
1. the likely physiological function of ALDH3B1 is to oxidize lipid-derived aldehydes generated in the plasma membrane and not to be involved in the sphingolipid metabolism in the endoplasmic reticulum.
