Related Product Information for
anti-CPOX antibody
Coproporphyrinogen-III oxidase, mitochondrial precursor, also known as CPOX, is a 454 amino acid mitochondrial enzyme that is localized to the inner membrane space of erythrocytes. It participates in the sixth step of heme biosynthesis by catalyzing the formation of protoporphyrinogen IX from coproporphyrinogen III. Mutations in human CPOX gene predict the clinical outcome of the disease, with either hepatic hereditary coproporphyria or hematological manifestations of erythropoietic harderoporphyria.

NCBI Summary for CPOX
The protein encoded by this gene is the sixth enzyme of the heme biosynthetic pathway. The encoded enzyme is soluble and found in the intermembrane space of mitochondria. This enzyme catalyzes the stepwise oxidative decarboxylation of coproporphyrinogen III to protoporphyrinogen IX, a precursor of heme. Defects in this gene are a cause of hereditary coproporphyria (HCP).[provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]
UniProt Comments for CPOX
Involved in the heme biosynthesis. Catalyzes the aerobic oxidative decarboxylation of propionate groups of rings A and B of coproporphyrinogen-III to yield the vinyl groups in protoporphyrinogen-IX.

Research Articles on CPOX
1. The monomer form of mutated CPOX did not show any activity and homodimeric enzymes derived from Hereditary coproporphyria (HCP) mutant showed low activity (<20% of the control).
