The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing NOTCH3. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS9307020 kit is based on NOTCH3 antibody-NOTCH3 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect NOTCH3 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, NOTCH3. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

This gene encodes the third discovered human homologue of the Drosophilia melanogaster type I membrane protein notch. In Drosophilia, notch interaction with its cell-bound ligands (delta, serrate) establishes an intercellular signalling pathway that plays a key role in neural development. Homologues of the notch-ligands have also been identified in human, but precise interactions between these ligands and the human notch homologues remains to be determined. Mutations in NOTCH3 have been identified as the underlying cause of cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL).
