Small volumes of Acan recombinant protein vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Related Product Information for
Acan recombinant protein
This gene is a member of the aggrecan
versican proteoglycan family. The encoded protein is an integral part of the extracellular matrix in cartilagenous tissue and it withstands compression in cartilage. Mutations in this gene may be involved in skeletal dysplasia and spinal degeneration. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different protein isoforms have been observed in this gene.

UniProt Comments for Acan
This proteoglycan is a major component of extracellular matrix of cartilagenous tissues. A major function of this protein is to resist compression in cartilage. It binds avidly to hyaluronic acid via an N-terminal globular region. May play a regulatory role in the matrix assembly of the cartilage.
Research Articles on Acan
1. Acan mRNA and protein was reduced by 50% in AgcCre/Cre mouse model of dwarfism. Analysis of gene expression indicates impaired differentiation of chondrocyte in hyaline cartilage of AgcCre/Cre mice.
