The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing CYP2A13. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS7241114 kit is based on CYP2A13 antibody-CYP2A13 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect CYP2A13 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, CYP2A13. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum. Although its endogenous substrate has not been determined, it is known to metabolize 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone, a major nitrosamine specific to tobacco. This gene is part of a large cluster of cytochrome P450 genes from the CYP2A, CYP2B and CYP2F subfamilies on chromosome 19q. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

CYP2A5: Exhibits a coumarin 7-hydroxylase activity. Active in the metabolic activation of hexamethylphosphoramide, N,N- dimethylaniline, 2'-methoxyacetophenone, N- nitrosomethylphenylamine, and the tobacco-specific carcinogen, 4- (methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone. Possesses phenacetin O-deethylation activity. Belongs to the cytochrome P450 family.
