IgG Fc receptors (Fc?Rs) play important roles in immune responses. Low affinity IgG Fc receptor Fc gamma RIIa (FCGR2A, CD32) is a cell surface receptor found on phagocytic cells such as macrophages and neutrophils, and is involved in the process of phagocytosis and clearing of immune complexes.

The recombinant human CD32aconsists of 213 amino acids after removal of the signal peptide and predicts a molecular mass of 23.6 KDa. It migrates as an approximately 33 KDa band due to glycosylation by SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

This gene encodes one member of a family of immunoglobulin Fc receptor genes found on the surface of many immune response cells. The protein encoded by this gene is a cell surface receptor found on phagocytic cells such as macrophages and neutrophils, and is involved in the process of phagocytosis and clearing of immune complexes. FCGR2A: low affinity receptor for the Fc region of IgGs. Binding to IgG initiates cellular responses against pathogens and soluble antigens. A type I membrane protein found on monocytes, neutrophils and platelets. SHP-1 associates with this protein to modulate signaling events in myeloid cells.
