MBS2606833 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the 25-hydroxyvitamin D-1 alpha hydroxylase (CYP27B1) ELISA Kit target analytes in
biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing CYP27B1. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS2606833 kit is based on CYP27B1 antibody-CYP27B1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect CYP27B1 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, CYP27B1. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for CYP27B1
This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. The protein encoded by this gene localizes to the inner mitochondrial membrane where it hydroxylates 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 at the 1alpha position. This reaction synthesizes 1alpha,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, the active form of vitamin D3, which binds to the vitamin D receptor and regulates calcium metabolism. Thus this enzyme regulates the level of biologically active vitamin D and plays an important role in calcium homeostasis. Mutations in this gene can result in vitamin D-dependent rickets type I. UniProt Comments for CYP27B1
CYP27B1: Catalyzes the conversion of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D) to 1-alpha,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D) plays an important role in normal bone growth, calcium metabolism, and tissue differentiation. Defects in CYP27B1 are the cause of rickets vitamin D- dependent type 1A (VDDR1A); also known as pseudovitamin D deficiency rickets (PDDR). A disorder caused by a selective deficiency of the active form of vitamin D (1,25- dihydroxyvitamin D3) and resulting in defective bone mineralization and clinical features of rickets. Belongs to the cytochrome P450 family.

1. Increased CYP27B1 expression and local duodenal 1,25(OH)2D3 production during puberty may be a metabolic adaptation that promotes dietary calcium absorption.
