The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS9426860 kit is based on BPI antibody-BPI antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect BPI antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, BPI. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

BPI: The cytotoxic action of BPI is limited to many species of Gram-negative bacteria; this specificity may be explained by a strong affinity of the very basic N-terminal half for the negatively charged lipopolysaccharides that are unique to the Gram-negative bacterial outer envelope. Has antibacterial activity against the Gram-nagative bacterium P.aeruginosa, this activity is inhibited by LPS from P.aeruginosa. Belongs to the BPI/LBP/Plunc superfamily. BPI/LBP family.
