3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for P34969
Specificity
This item detects an epitope within the N-terminal of the serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) receptor 5-HT7, which belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor superfamily. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter and vasoactive amine which is thought to play a role in various cognitive and behavioural functions including pain, appetite, mood and sleep.
Signalling through 5-HT7 has several effects, including regulation of the circadian rhythm and mediation of smooth-muscle relaxation in the vasculature and gastrointestinal tract. Signalling though 5-HT7 has also been shown to contribute to early T-cell activation.
5-HT7 has been implicated in depression, autism, and other neuropsychiatric disorders.

Antisera to 5-HT7 receptor (NT) were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.
Other Notes
Small volumes of anti-5-HT7 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for 5-HT7
The neurotransmitter, serotonin, is thought to play a role in various cognitive and behavioral functions. The serotonin receptor encoded by this gene belongs to the superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors and the gene is a candidate locus for involvement in autistic disorder and other neuropsychiatric disorders. Three splice variants have been identified which encode proteins that differ in the length of their carboxy terminal ends. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
UniProt Comments for 5-HT7
5-HT(7): This is one of the several different receptors for 5- hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins that stimulate adenylate cyclase. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
