Antibody/Peptide Pairs
MeCP2 peptide (MBS9224717) is used for blocking the activity of MeCP2 antibody (MBS9213921)
Research Use Only
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for Q95LG8
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the C-term region of human MeCP2. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Cellular Location
Nucleus. Note: Colocalized with methyl-CpG in the genome.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Other Notes
Small volumes of MECP2 blocking peptide vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.
Related Product Information for
MECP2 blocking peptide
Chromosomal protein that binds to methylated DNA. It can bind specifically to a single methyl-CpG pair. It is not influenced by sequences flanking the methyl-CpGs. Mediates transcriptional repression through interaction with histone deacetylase and the corepressor SIN3A. Binds both 5-methylcytosine (5mC) and 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC)-containing DNA, with a preference for 5-methylcytosine (5mC) (By similarity).
