| Description |
Immortalized Human Mammary MUC+ESA+ Epithelial Cells are luminal-derived epithelial cells coexpressing sialomucin (MUC) and epithelial-specific antigen (ESA). It has tight junction proteins, occludin, claudin-1, and the ability to build high transepithelial electrical resistance which is all characteristics of differentiated luminal epithelial phenotypes. It can form acinus-like spheres when cultures on laminin rich gel. These cells have characteristics of differentiated mature human breasts. |

| Propagation |
Use of PriCoat™ T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) is required for cell adhesion to the culture vessels. Grow cells in ECM-coated culture vessels with the following conditions. The base medium for this cell line is PriGrow III: Prigrow IV (3:1 ratio) medium available from ABM (TM003 and TM004). To make the completed growth medium, add the following components to the base medium to final concentration of: 0.5 µg/ml hydrocortisone, 50 µg/ml gentamicin (G272), 5 µg/ml insulin (Z101065), 10 ng/ml EGF (Z100135), 10-10 M cholera toxin, 1.8 x 10-4 M adenine, 10 µM Y27632, 2 mM glutamine, 5% FCS and Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255). Atmosphere: air: 95%, CO₂: 5%; Temperature: 37.0°C. |
