IL-1R8/IL1RAPL1 recombinant protein
Protein Construction: Recombinant Human IL-1R8 is produced by our mammalian expression system and the target gene encoding Leu19-Thr357 is expressed with a Fc tag at the C-terminus.
Background: Interleukin-1 receptor accessory protein-like 1, also known as IL1RAPL1, can be detected at low levels in heart, skeletal muscle, ovary, skin, amygdala, caudate nucleus, corpus callosum, hippocampus, substantia nigra and thalamus. IL1RAPL1 functions as a homodimer, it interacts with NCS1, PTPRD. This interaction is PTPRD-splicing-dependent and induces pre- and post-synaptic differentiation of neurons and is required for IL1RAPL1-mediated synapse formation. During dendritic spine formation, it can bidirectionally induce pre- and post-synaptic differentiation of neurons by trans-synaptically binding to PTPRD.

UniProt Comments for IL-1R8/IL1RAPL1
IL1RAPL1: May regulate secretion and presynaptic differentiation through inhibition of the activity of N-type voltage-gated calcium channel. May activate the MAP kinase JNK. Plays a role in presynaptic and postsynaptic differentiation and dendritic spine formation in neurons. Defects in IL1RAPL1 are the cause of mental retardation X-linked type 21 (MRX21). Mental retardation is a mental disorder characterized by significantly sub-average general intellectual functioning associated with impairments in adaptative behavior and manifested during the developmental period. Non- syndromic mental retardation patients do not manifest other clinical signs. Belongs to the interleukin-1 receptor family. 1 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
