The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS9368916 kit is based on MTMR2 antibody-MTMR2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect MTMR2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, MTMR2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. This gene is a member of the myotubularin family of phosphoinositide lipid phosphatases. The encoded protein possesses phosphatase activity towards phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate and phosphatidylinositol-3,5-bisphosphate. Mutations in this gene are a cause of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 4B, an autosomal recessive demyelinating neuropathy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

Homooligomer and heterooligomer. Interacts with SBF1 and SBF2. interaction with SBF1 increases phosphatase activity. Belongs to the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. Non-receptor class myotubularin subfamily.
